Itís time to whip out the hats, singlets, shorts, and thongs that adorn our national flag. Itís time to wear green and gold together with pride. Australia Day is a week away, and we need to get organised with a list of fun things to do, on one of our favourite Public Holidays of the year.
Australia Day Fireworks at Semaphore Foreshore will be a spectacular event. Enjoy the day at Semaphore Summer Carnival, eating carnival food and partaking in amusement rides, and swimming in the beach. The fireworks will commence at 9:30pm.
Semaphore Summer Carnival opens at 11:00am every day.
Australia Day in the City is a fun evening event for the whole family. Beginning with the Australia Day Street Parade at 6:00pm- a beautiful, colourful, multicultural event which celebrates all Australians. Following on from the parade, is the Australia Day Concert, featuring performances from Ricki-Lee and Chris Sebastian. As well as the Flag Raising Ceremony and 21 Gun Salute. At 9:30pm the fireworks will be wonderful ending to a fantastic Australia Day Celebration.

The City of Playford are hosting an Australia Day BBQ Brekkie at Fremont Park, Elizabeth, from 8:00am-12:00pm. There will be sand, deck chairs, and Summer vibes throughout the morning, not to mention a FREE BBQ BREAKFAST!
Victor Harbor is hosting Australia Day celebrations at Warland Reserve from 8:00am, starting with a free BBQ breakfast. There will be entertainment by City Band, and an awards ceremony for the 2018 Citizen of the Year.
Speaking of free breakfast: City of Mount Gambier are hosting a free breakfast and awards ceremony at the Railway Lands. Come and celebrate being an Australian with your community.
We canít forget the most important summer sport: Australia Day One Day International. We are so lucky to have this event on our local turf every year. This year, Australia will take on England at the Adelaide Oval. Gates open at 11:30am, with the first session beginning at 1:50pm.

Alternatively, If you wish to make your own fun this Australia Day, a picnic or BBQ at your nearest beach, park, or reserve would be a fantastic idea. Donít forget to take your hats, sun cream, and umbrella shade, as itís sure to be a scorcher. Also, donít forget the essentials: cricket kit, frisbee, and bocce set.
