National Families Week is just around the corner, on 15-21 May. This year's theme is 'Stronger Families, Stronger Communities'.

Also, on May 15 is International Day Of Families, a day recognised by the United Nations to draw awareness of the multitude of families from around the world. This year's theme is 'Families and Inclusive Societies'.
As both of these themes involve the community and families, Adelaide Mums Group have come up with a list of ideas for your family to do during International Day of Families, and National Families Week.
Keeping in the theme of zoo's, Adelaide Zoo is a fantastic place to visit for National Families Week. Your children's favourite animals, like the lion, giraffe, panda's, or meerkats, are found at Adelaide Zoo. There is also an amazing multi-leveled playground within the zoo, which will keep your children entertained for hours.

After you've visited Adelaide Zoo, why not head on over to Adelaide Botanic Gardens. Walk around 50 acres of beautiful native and non-native flora, and take in all of the sights and smells that the plants bring to the environment. There is an abundance of grassed areas to run around, and picnic on, plus cafes and restaurants within the grounds.

Mintaro Maze will offer the family hours of fun and excitement. Race against your family to be the first one out of this living maze, made from 800 conifers. Once you've finally found the other end of the maze, enjoy a picnic lunch on the Mintaro Maze grounds.
For a free, fun event, head on over to your nearest parkrun. Held every Saturday morning at 8am, parkrun has bucket-loads of community spirit. You can run or walk the 5km's, or volunteer at your local parkrun- fitting in perfectly with the National Families Week theme. To find your nearest parkrun, click here.
