On a stunning June afternoon we took a leisurely drive down to McLaren Vale for lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a booking at The Kitchen Door at Penny's Hill, the restaurant connected to their cellar door.
A large family gathering was also present and proved the venue to be an exceptional spot to bring the whole family. Even in the peak of winter, we all sat in the sheltered courtyard with the gas heaters surrounded by flat lush lawn where kids played with a provided cricket set to keep them busy in between courses.
The restaurant truly has the whole family in mind providing a kids menu as well as ample highchairs and a change station. Their table configurations are flexible to accommodate a small family lunch or a larger celebration for extended family and friends. I highly recommend the delicious food, the exceptional flexible service and the view.
