Today's research, tomorrow's solutions - your participation makes a difference.

The Robinson Research Institute (RRI) at the University of Adelaide tackles the most pressing reproductive health issues by undertaking cutting-edge research designed to improve fertility and pregnancy outcomes and fosters early childhood health in Australia, and the world.

Building on over 60 years of pioneering research, the Institute's researchers aim to improve the health of women and children by identifying what drives health as well as susceptibility to disease between generations. Their research empowers health care professionals, parents, and parents-to-be with knowledge and tools to make the safest choices, and they use their findings to advocate for improved health care and policy change.

Research discoveries and clinical trials at the Robinson Research Institute have already contributed to improved health awareness and medical practice, but there is still much to be done.

Your contribution can lead to healthier futures for women, children, and families.

How You Can Help

Researchers run studies, projects and clinical trials to improve the health of mothers, babies and growing families. Below are details of two research projects currently seeking participants

+ The Healthy Heart study

Women who experience complications of pregnancy (such as high blood pressure, diabetes during pregnancy, delivering preterm and delivering a small for gestational age baby) are more likely to develop heart disease in the future when compared to women who do not experience a complication of pregnancy.

This study aims to understand the link between heart health following a pregnancy complication and the immune system 6 months after having a baby.

Researchers are looking for mums located in Adelaide’s north who had an uncomplicated pregnancy and recently had their baby, to take part in a study about heart health after pregnancy and form a control group.

Participants will receive clinical resources on post-pregnancy healthy living and exercise tailored to mums, and a $50.00 voucher for their involvement in the study.

If you are interested, please fill out the online expression of interest form, and one of the study research team will be in contact with you.

+ IMAGENDO®

Led by the Endometriosis research group at the Robinson Research Institute, IMAGENDO® is an automated tool that can diagnose endometriosis fast, reliably and non-invasively without the need for surgery. By pairing specialist endometriosis ultrasound and endometriosis MRI with artificial intelligence (AI), the team hopes to reduce the diagnostic delay of endometriosis from currently over 6 years, to one year by 2030.

You can help get IMAGENDO® closer to a clinical roll-out. Both women with and without endometriosis symptoms can help. Researchers are looking for:

- Individuals preparing for Endometriosis-investigative surgery in the next 6 months. A confirmed surgery date is required to be eligible. IMAGENDO® will provide a free MRI and endometriosis transvaginal ultrasound.

- Individuals who have undergone ultrasounds, MRIs, and potentially surgeries for endometriosis and are happy to donate the scans to the study to further improve the algorithm.

- Individuals in Adelaide without endometriosis or any pelvic conditions, with relatively "normal" periods and gynaecological functions. Participants undergo an MRI and/or transvaginal ultrasound to serve as a control group used for AI comparison.

If you are interested in participating, please contact the Institute, and one of the study research team will be in contact with you.
