Honour and Celebrate Woman Power in Adelaide

If I ask you to think of a woman who is strong, powerful, empathetic, loving, and brave, who do you think of? I hope that one of the women that come to your mind is YOU. It’s time to start celebrating YOU, and what better time to celebrate you, and all of the strong, powerful, empathetic, loving, and brave women that you know, then on International Women’s Day (IWD), Thursday 8th March, 2018.

Adelaide has many International Women’s Day events, which are selling out fast. Listed here are events which have not yet sold out, but you need to get in fast.

Running every second Saturday, join Foodi on their interactive Chocolate Walking Tour, where you will discover some of these chocolatiers and gain insight into their craft.
1. Commbank’s Women In Focus

This event will be held one week prior to IWD, on Thursday 1st March, 2018 from 12:00pm- 3:00pm. Guest speakers, Kylie Bishop (Entrepreneur, CEO, Coach and Mentor), and Kate Gould (Arts consultant and digital entrepreneur) will be talking about women in business and education.

Tickets are $87.96 each.

2. IWD Adelaide Luncheon 2018

Do you need an updated family photo?
Come and celebrate 80 years since the founding of International Women’s Day Committee of South Australia. IWD Committee of SA will be holding a luncheon on Thursday 8th March at 12:00pm sharp. This year’s theme is: %%Is Social Media Killing Girlhood?: The Impact of Social Media on the Self-Image of Young Women and Girls.
Discussing this theme, will be a panel of intellectual and highly regarded women: Joan Russell (President of IWD Association of SA); Joanna Zeitz (Manager of Schools, Communities, Innovations and Learning Services (SCILS) for Relationships Australia SA); and Dr Collette Snowden (Senior Lecturer in the School of Communication, International Studies and Languages at the University of South Australia).

Tickets are $60.00 per person.
IWD Adelaide Luncheon 2018 will be held at Halls J&K, Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace, Adelaide 5000.

3.International Women’s Day Festival
This is an all-day event, as part of Adelaide Fringe Festival. There will be many activities, such as a movie screening, concerts, performances, and speakers by local Women and Men. Lunch is provided by local businesses. Come and celebrate and share stories of the women in your life on Thursday 8th March.
Ticket are $79.00 (full price), or $60.00 (BankSA customers).
Location: Main Hall at Woodville Town Hall.74-76 Woodville Road, Woodville 5011.


If you are unable to make it to any of these events, another fantastic way to celebrate International Women’s Day is to host your own party with your girlfriend’s, work colleagues, and family. You can choose a women’s charity to donate to, such as UN Women- an organisation that helps women from all over the world in their time of need.
