Leaving a DV relationship

I am preparing to leave a DV relationship with my 17-month-old son. I have no family or friends that can help me out. I was told that DV services are available. Does anyone have any experience in this area? I'm terrified. I have no money, transport, etc. I'll be leaving a somewhat secure (financially) situation and going to start from scratch and I'm scared. I don't want to become homeless with my son.

any advice is appreciated.
