I'd like to hear from other grandparents that are going through this and how they cope because I'm not coping. Almost a year ago my son and his wife cut me out of their and my grandson's life.
There has been no explanation why, although I've asked many times. I was never allowed to look after my grandson or spend time with him unless my DIL was around. She has made it clear that she makes the decisions in regards to him and she holds the power.
Several times I had dropped everything when she messaged to go and play with him if she was sick or wanted to clean the house, But it had to be in their home. I took whatever I could get. If I asked to take him to my house or any outing I was causing trouble. I did ask several times over a 2 year period. My grandson is now 3 and would have no idea who I am anymore. He loved coming to our home and loved being around me. Now I have to accept he's not in my life and I have no idea when or if he will be again. I've tried everything, apologised so many times for whatever it is that I did. But I really don't think it's me that has done anything that justifies this cruel hurtful thing that they have done. I've tried counseling but the hurt doesn't go away. If you have been through this, please tell me how you managed to survive.
