No measure can ever guarantee that children are safe in, on and around water. It is only human for adults to sometimes lapse in their supervision of children in the home or while out and about.
Children can and do find ways over fences, and even those who have had swimming lessons can still drown. For this reason the SwimSAFER message promotes the application of various layers to protect children from drowning – if one layer ‘fails’ then there is another behind it that may save their life.
School of Little Swimmers is a mobile swim school based in Adelaide offering private swimming lessons in the comfort of your home pool (alternatively, a friend or family members pool).
School of Little Swimmers head teacher, Alice Lodge has been working in the aquatic industry from a young age has pursued her passion for teaching swimming ever since. Alice has over 10 years experience teaching swimming and water safety lessons.
She believes children need more than swimming skills to keep them safe in water. The skills and knowledge learnt through swimming and water safety lessons within the home pool provides a layer of protection based on the solid skills learnt in the home pool environment.
Lessons in the home pool educate students based on the individual swimming pool, and allow them to become confident within their own pool, an area, which most spend large amounts of time in the warmer months. In addition they learn skills on how to assess dangers within other aquatic environments.
School of Little Swimmers - Outdoor Season Starts 1st November
